At Montshire, we strive to provide your child with an outstanding dental experience and world-class care. Our 4 guiding principles are:
We focus on making dental visits fun and stress-free for your child.
Preventive care is our priority to ensure your child's long-term oral health.
We support your child in developing habits for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
We always start with the least invasive and lowest risk solutions possible.
At Montshire Pediatric Dentistry, we continuously update our practices with the latest research and collaborate with experts nationwide to deliver the best care possible. Our minimally invasive approach incorporates cutting-edge medicaments, materials, and techniques to ensure effective and gentle treatment for your child. Below are a few examples of the advanced tools and methods we use, supported by scientific literature:
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is an antimicrobial liquid applied to teeth to eliminate bacteria, effectively stopping cavities and preventing future decay. This treatment addresses the root cause of cavities by removing harmful bacteria. Silver has been used for thousands of years in various medical applications, such as eye drops for infants and antimicrobial gauze. By using SDF, we often avoid the need for invasive procedures like local anesthesia (shots) and drill-and-fill dentistry.
See a few examples of scientific literature below that demonstrate SDF efficacy.
We use glass ionomer, a versatile white material, for various treatments, including sealants, fillings, and crown placements. This material stands out because it releases minerals that rebuild and strengthen natural tooth structures. Its antimicrobial properties help combat decay, and its biocompatibility ensures it works harmoniously with your child's teeth. Glass ionomer's thermal properties match those of natural teeth, reducing the chance of leakage. Its straightforward application process requires less isolation, making treatments quicker and more comfortable.
See a few examples of scientific literature below regarding the use of glass ionomer.

Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a common condition affecting both baby and adult teeth. It presents two main clinical challenges: weakened tooth structure, which is more susceptible to breakdown, and hypersensitivity due to an increased concentration of nerve endings. To address these issues, we use Silver Diamine Fluoride and Glass Ionomer, which have proven highly effective. By following the technique outlined below, we can enhance your child's long-term dental health while minimizing the need for multiple uncomfortable visits.
The Hall crown technique enables us to place prefabricated crowns without the need for numbing or drilling. Stainless Steel Crowns, which cover the entire tooth, are highly effective in terms of predictability and longevity. If necessary, space for the crown can be created using orthodontic separators instead of drilling the tooth.
Povidone Iodine is an over-the-counter antiseptic liquid that kills harmful bacteria in our mouth. It is an easy, effective way to prevent cavities in our mouth.
